An access log features a record of all files which have been requested by the visitors while exploring your site. The list is detailed, so when you have a page with 2 embedded images, for example, all of the three files will be in the log, not only the page. An access log usually contains the date, the Operating System, the browser and the IP address for each file in human-readable form, so you can get an idea about the most popular files on your site. The log, that's also commonly named "raw data", is an addition to the web statistics which you typically get with a hosting account, not a substitute. An example why you may require this type of a log is if you would like to use some software on your personal computer to prepare a report about the website’s performance, but you don't want to use the regular graphs and tables that come with the server-generated web stats.

Access Log Manager in Website Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia CP includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your website hosting account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to every single domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you will see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you don't require one, you can stop it with a click from the very same section of the Control Panel. You will still be able to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it will not take more than several clicks to permit the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature may be enabled through the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this could be done individually for each and every domain name or subdomain which you have within your account. Whenever you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. One click shall activate the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this function with great simplicity. A Download link in the same section will permit you to save the compiled content as a text file, that you may then use on your personal computer. Even when the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
